South Africa has denied reports that it plans to help Nigeria in its fight against terrorist sect, Boko Haram. Earlier media reports had it that SA was planning to send Special Forces to help Nigeria fight the sect.
The claims have however been denied by the South African National Defence Force (SANDF).
"There is no such decision to send any military elements by the RSA to assist with the fight against Boko Haram,” Spokesperson Siphiwe Dlamini said today, March 9, 2016.
The erroneous reports were supposedly informed by a press briefing delivered by Nigerian Defence Minister, Mansur Dan Ali after a meeting with his South African counterpart, Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nquakula.
Meanwhile, SA President, Jacob Zuma is expected to complete a two-day official visit to Nigeria today.
