Robbers cut off septuagenarian's right hand during attack on filling station in Edo state

News reports have revealed that a septuagenarian working as a security guard at a filling station, reportedly had his right hand chopped off at the wrist by robbers during an attack in Edo State.The elderly man identified as Pa Jacob Ikilo, a security guard at a filling station at Eyaen village, on the Benin-Auchi Road had had his hands chopped off at the wrists during a routine check at the filling station on Monday, February 29, 2016.

Pa Jacob is reportedly receiving treatment at the Male Orthopaedic Ward of the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH), with the doctors battling to save his right wrist.
The victim reveals that the robbers had used a machete to chop off his wrist when he had gone out to check the unusual noise coming from the plant house.
Pa Jacob had reportedly been attacked while attempting to run after he had seen others fleeing the area where the robbers had been.
“When I was coming from the generator house, they surrounded me. They just cut off this my hand (left hand). As I shout, they said shut up and cut the other hand. I fell down and started asking them to leave me, that I was dying.”
The company manager is reported to have invited the Egba Divisional Police Station after one of the company drivers had discovered Pa Jacob.
The severed right wrist is reportedly being kept alive by a tiny blood vessel, and would require N380,000 to be fixed back.Pa Jacob who is badly in need of the money needed for his surgery revealed that he was yet to receive his N15,000 salary in the last 6 months, adding that his employer hardly paid his salary regularly despite his 12-hour daily shifts.
