Senator Ben Murray-Bruce has said that politicians who “kidnap” government money should face the death penalty. Murray-Bruce made the comment in reaction to the intention of some states to make kidnapping punishable by death.
“I've no problem with states that want to make kidnapping punishable by death, but let them 1st apply it on politicians who kidnap govt money,” he wrote via Twitter on March 23, 2016.
His comment comes after the Osun State House of Assembly announced that it plans to review the state's criminal law to make provisions for the death sentence to apply to kidnappers.
The disclosure was made by House Speaker, Najeem Salaam while hosting the new Commandant of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ayodele Olusola, on Tuesday, March 22.
