Super Eagles defenders, Leon Balogun and Kenneth Omeruo have been ruled out of the team to play Egypt in 2017 African Cup of Nations. Omeruo who plays for Kasımpaş in Turkey and Balogun who plays for Mainz in the Bundesliga are both struggling with injuries.
Coach of the Super Eagles, Samson Siasia has picked six home based players to join his foreign contingent of players who will play the important AFCON qualifiers against the Pharaoh's of Egypt.
The six players picked include Kalu Orji, Chibuzor Okonkwo, Ikechukwu Ezenwa, Matthew Etim, Ifeanyi Matthew and Oghenekaro Etebo.Foreign based players who have arrived at the Super Eagles camp in Abuja include John Obi Mikel, Alex Iwobi, Aminu Umar, Ike Ezenwa, Aaron Samuel, Odion Ighalo, Godfrey Oboabona and Etebo Oghenekaro.The team leaves for Kaduna on Tuesday, March 22 after the morning training session at the Abuja National Stadium, which will be open to the media.
Nigeria will play the Pharaohs of Egypt in Kaduna on Friday, March 25 with the return leg to be played in Alexandria on Tuesday, March 29.
Egypt are on top of the group with maximum six points after beating Tanzania at home and Chad away while Nigeria are second with four points after a win and a draw.
