Ex-minister Abba Moro might be granted bail today

There are indications that the former minister of interior, Aba Moro might be granted bail today, Thursday, March 3, 2016. Moro was remanded in prison custody by Justice Anwuli Chikere on Monday, March 1, 2016 following an 11 count fraud charge against him.

Also arraigned alongside the former minister was the company that handled the botched 2014 Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) recruitment exercise, Drexel Tech Nigeria Ltd.
Moro, during a hearing on Wednesday, March 2, 2016 applied for bail, on the basis of his health.Punch reports that he told the court that he was suffering from cute diabetes and high blood pressure.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) opposed the ex-minister’s bail application saying that he never complained of any sickness when he was in their custody.
An investigator with the anti-graft agency, Isa Joshua, also told the court that “Moro would frustrate its effort to apprehend others involved in the alleged crime as they were being trailed by EFCC’s operatives.”
The EFCC accused the ex- minister of Interior, Abba Moro of defrauding job seekers of N676,675,000.
Moro was subsequently arraigned in court on Monday, February 29, 2016.
