Grammy Awards 2016 Adele, The Weeknd, Lauryn Hill are biggest flops of the night

The 2016 Grammys came with so many high points, as 83 winners were recognized on music’s biggest night which held at the Staples Centre, California.
As the winners come and go, the night wasn’t all highlights and fireworks. Some stars lost heavily, and Pulse Music have found The Weeknd, Lauryn Hill, and guess who? Adele!Lauryn Hill received no nomination for an award this year, but she was set to join The Weeknd in a surprise performance.

Unfortunately, despite appearing at dress rehearsals, she didn’t make it to the Staples Center in time for her appearance, says Neil Portnow, the president of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences. He flatly said a statement issued by her camp–claiming she didn’t have enough time to prepare–was simply incorrect. That disappearance may explain why The Weeknd’s performance seemed a disjointed, with an opening segment ending abruptly and other parts where he seemed too tentative. To further soil matters for the star singer, he won only two of the seven awards for which he was nominated.

Finally, Adele delivered a performance that was panned by many, sounding off key in a bizarre contrast to her usual perfection—but like The Weeknd, it appears that it may not have been her fault.

“There was, during Adele’s performance, a technical glitch,” says Portnow, the president of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences. “The microphone dropped inside the piano … the microphone hitting strings means that when the hammer hits the strings, it sounds like something’s in there.”

Or, as Adele gracefully summed it up: “Shit happens.”
