Kaduna State Teachers groan over deductions in salaries

Some teachers in Kaduna State, North Western Nigeria have raised an alarm over what they described as illegal deductions in their monthly salaries.
According to some of the teachers who spoke to Pulse by telephone, several complaints have been made to authorities without action taken.

"I am a level 14 teacher and my salary as at December, 2015, was about N83,000. Unfortunately, each month, some times, they deduct from N7,000 and N3,000. We have lodged several complain to the ministry but nothing has been done" a teacher who don't want his name mentioned said.
Another teacher from a government girls' secondary school said often times, they always see different names in their payment voucher. "Honestly, we don't know why the money is been deducted. There was a month one of my friends account was left with only N3000 and she did not take loan. The government should intervene on this matter" another teacher said.
Another staff of the Kaduna State government said not only teachers salaries was being deducted but the computer room should provide proper answers to that. Kaduna State Commissioner for Education, Dr Shehu Usman could not react on the matter. He did not respond to a text message sent to him.
