News reports have revealed that a great-great grandmother and running enthusiast, aged 100, from New York City has now broken the World Record for the 100-yard dash for her age group of 80 years and older. Ida had reportedly achieved the feat after making the distance in 1:17:33 at the Penn Relays in Philadelphia on Saturday, April 30, 2016, which is unarguably no easy feat for a 100-yr-old.Speaking with CBS Philadelphia, Ida said:

"It was wonderful. It's the best exercise I know."
Ida's husband had reportedly died of a heart attack at the age of 42, and she soon found refuge in running during those hard times.
"It felt good, and I felt uplifted. I said, 'Well, gee, this is for me."
Ida reportedly trains on the corridors of her Bronx apartment block, and also lifts weights and cycles on an exercise bike.

The athlete revealed that she prefers to eat her evening meal, a hamburger, fish, or liver, for breakfast, adding that it "gives me fuel for the day."
Ida's health regime is obviously paying off as she reportedly takes just one prescription drug and could pass for a woman 20 years younger than she is.Ida has also revealed that she is determined to continue running for as long as possible, as she plans to outlive her grandmother, who had survived up to the age of 104.

"Every year I am going to keep doing what I am doing, and when running time comes, if I feel I am ready, I will go at it."
