Suge Knight Claims $50K Hit Put On Him By Dr. Dre Led To His 2014 Shooting. Says An L.A. County Sheriff Assisted By The Letting Gunman In Club

On Sunday, August 24, 2014, Suge Knight was shot seven times while attending a pre-VMA party at 1 Oak in West Hollywood. He is now pointing the finger at Dr. Dre for allegedly hiring the hit man.

TMZ reports that Suge's lawyer, Thaddeus Culpepper, has filed legal documents that allege the shooter confessed that he and a friend were paid $50,000 to carry out the hit by the music producer. The documents further claim that L.A. County Deputy Henry Boyd was part of the plot and is seen on surveillance video letting the gunman inside the club.

Culpepper says the L.A. County Sheriff's Department inexplicably released the shooter from custody.

There is video footage that later shows Boyd with the gunman at Los Angeles International Airport, helping him to flee the country, according to Culpepper.

The documents claim that Boyd resigned after being questioned by authorities about the shooting.

Dre and Suge were at one point co-owners of Death Row Records. Their relationship eventually soured.

Dre, real name, Andre Young, left the label in 1996 to form Aftermath Entertainment. While his business ventures have flourished, Suge's life has gone in the opposite direction.

Death Row Records eventually went bankrupt and Knight, real name Marion Knight, became known more for his numerous run-ins with the law than anything else. He is currently in an L.A. jail awaiting trial after being charged with murder and attempted-murder, in connection with a January 2015 hit-and-run in Compton that left Terry Carter dead and injured Cle "Bone" Sloane.
The hit-and-run was a continuation of a fight that started when Knight went to the set of the "Straight Outta Compton" movie.Knight, 49, faces up to life in prison if convicted. He has pleaded not guilty.
