Mats Hummels has told Borussia Dortmund that he wants to leave the club in favour of a move to Bayern Munich. The Germany international's contract with Dortmund runs until June 2017 but he recently admitted that he was considering his options.

He had also been linked with a switch to Manchester City, but Dortmund announced on Thursday Hummels has set his sights on a move to Bayern."Defender Mats Hummels has told Borussia Dortmund that he wishes to leave the club in the summer and join Bundesliga rivals Bayern Munich," a statement on the official Dortmund website read.
"Dortmund's board of directors has made the decision that a potential transfer depends on whether Bayern are willing to meet Dortmund's valuation of the player. Bayern have not made an offer as of yet.
"The club would like to stress that Hummels - like any other Dortmund player - does not have a buyout clause in his contract and is tied to Dortmund until June 30, 2017."
The 27-year-old came through the ranks of the Bayern youth academy but, after struggling to secure regular first-team action at the Allianz Arena, eventually left the club for Dortmund in January 2008, initially on loan, before making his stay at Dortmund permanent.
