Nigeria international striker Odion Ighalo has been named the Barclays Premier League Player of the Month of December. The Watford striker scored five goals in the month of December against Liverpool, Sunderland, Norwich and Chelsea.
He beat the likes of Arsenal's Mesut Ozil, Marko Arnautovic, Riyad Mahrez, Romelu Lukaku and Dele Alli to win the award.
He joins that likes of Jay Jay Okocha, Yakubu Aiyegbeni and Osaze Odemwingie as the only Nigerians who have won the monthly gong.
The excited striker took to his Twitter account to thank God for the award."It can only be God," the striker wrote alongside a photo of him holding his plaque with his manager Quique Sanchez Flores who won the managers' award.Sanchez Flores oversaw his side beat Liverpool, Sunderland and Norwich and an impressive 2-2 draw away at Chelsea in December leading him to winning the Barclays Manager of the Month.
The Spaniard saw off competition from Arsene Wenger, Claudio Ranieri and Alan Pardew to claim the coveted Manager of the Month award
