Man seen climbing electricity mast in Lagos due to frustration

An unidentified man in his late thirties was spotted at Powerline Street, Calvary Bus Stop in Egbe-Idimu Local Council Development Area climbing a high-tension tower.
According to Punch, the man wandered around the vicinity in the early hours of the day before stopping at the foot of the tower at about 2pm. Residents and eyewitness were left in total shock seeing that the man was climbing the electricity mast like he was on a suicide mission.

Fortunately, as at the time the man got on the tower there was no electricity in the wires, it would have been another day of tragedy.

“He was not mad at all. He was coherent when he talked except for some vague statements he made. He had a mission and it was to kill himself for some unknown reasons.” Says Mr. Kazeem Oyebola a resident.

The incident attracted a large crowd and some of the witness had to climb the tower to see if they could get him down. It was also gathered that it took about three hour to get the man down the mast after the community leader contacted police at the Idimu police station.

However, it is still unclear what could have made the man climb a high-tension tower, witnesses said he didn’t look mentally challenged, and he was lucky to have survived electrocution.
