Super Eagles hattrick hero, Chisom Chikatara has revealed that his treble against Niger in Nigeria's first game at the African Nations Championship has made him a popular figure Rwanda where the tournament is taking place.
The Abia Warriors forward got his first goal in the 73th minute, before completing his hat trick with a goal in the 80th minute and another in the second minute of added time in the Super Eagles 4-1 win.
Speaking on his performance, Chikatara revealed that his hattrick has made him very popular in Rwanda where CHAN is taking place.I have been receiving a lot of calls from from my family members and friends back home in Nigeria congratulating me on my performance," Chikatara said in an interview with Complete Sports.
"Even here in Rwanda, most of the locals are always shouting my name each time they see me.
"I'm now more popular because of my performance in the game. I look forward to scoring more goals in the competition."The Super Eagles will face CHAN favourite Tunisia in their next Group C game and Chikatara exects a tougher test.
"We expect a tough battle against them, but we are looking forward to winning the game," he said.
"The game is an important one for us. If we beat them, we can start thinking of the last four. We are going to make sure we get three points in the game."
