Two police officer, Henry Ubogwu and another one simply identified as Bamidele, have been remanded at the Olokuta Prison by an Akure High Court sitting in Ondo State for allegedly engaging in armed robbery, reports Daily Post.
The rogue officers serving with th Ondo State Polie Command, together with an accomplice, Ige Ibukun, were alleged to have robbed one Victor Ojo of his Toyota Camry salon car with registration number, MA 862 AAA, around Plaza, Oke Ijebu area of the state capital.
The suspects were apprehended when the snatched car was involved in an accident around B’ Division police Station in Akure.
At the hearing of the trial, the prosecution counsel led by Dehinde Olafimihan, called an officer of the Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS), and the Investigating Police Officer (IPO), who investigated the matter at the Ijapo Police Station where the matter was initially reported before transferring it to SARS as witnesses.
The IPO, Adewunmi Olatunde, in his evidence, claimed to have known two of the accused persons, Ubogwu and Bamidele, as police officers before the incident.
According to him, the duo served as junior policemen in the same Police Division where he served.
