An ex-con will be spending the next 15 and a half years of his life in a federal prison for posting a selfie with a gun on Facebook reports Business Insider.
The man, 42-year-old Malik First Born Allah Farrad from Knoxville posted a selfie on Facebook in October 2013, that showed him holding a .45-caliber pistol and aiming the reflection of its laser sight above his head. Unfortunately for him, the FBI was investigating him for suspected “illicit conduct” at the time, and digging through his social media accounts was part of the investigation.
Farrad was arrested and convicted, and yesterday a federal judge sentenced him to 188 months, or 15.67 years in prison of being a felon in possession of a gun.
He has a long history of crimes beginning at age 14. He had previously been busted on drug, gun, and violent offense charges, so it was illegal for him to be in possession of a firearm.
